Left home for the first time.

Mish is born and raised South African to strong willed parents. From an early age Mish was raised to be fearless, with a drive to change the world.  She studied filmmaking in university, thinking film would be her voice for change. But once she was done with school, she was also done with filmmaking. She took the skills she learned and applied them to the top advertising school in the world, Miami Ad School, located in America, thousands of miles away from her family. We pick up the story from the airport before she boards her flight to America.

Sadness.

To leave her family and friends. She knew she’d see them again but it wouldn’t be every day like she was used to.

Fear.

Heading out into the unknown, away from family. There was no way to tell what would come of the next two years.

Love.

She’s surrounded by her mother, father, aunts, cousins, friends. It was the first time she’s ever seen her father cry. And in this moment, she gets to witness her divorced parents, who hate each other, share a hug together, just the three of them.

Joy.

The day has arrived and her new journey into advertising is here. She’d grown accustomed to her life in South Africa but she needed to get out of her comfort zone. She needed something new and America was it. She had visited America before but this time she’d move there and begin a two year program at Miami Ad School.
